Full-mouth dental implant consultation at Bleu Dentistry in Oak Lawn, Dallas

Full-mouth dental implants replace a whole arch of missing or failing teeth using implants as anchors. The three main options are a fixed bridge on four or more implants (like All-on-4), a removable denture that snaps onto implants, or individual implants and bridges. What are full-mouth dental implants?

Full-mouth dental implants are a way to replace all of your teeth in one or both jaws. Small titanium implants are placed in the jawbone, where they act like roots. A new set of teeth is then attached to those implants.

People usually look into full-mouth implants for one of three reasons: they already wear a denture that slips or hurts, they have many teeth that are broken, loose, or infected, or they have been told they will lose their remaining teeth soon. Implants give the new teeth a firm base, so you can bite and chew with more confidence than a traditional denture allows.

What are my options for replacing a full mouth of teeth?

There is no single full-mouth implant. There are three main designs, and the right one depends on your bone, your budget, and whether you want teeth that stay in or teeth you can remove.

OptionHow it worksImplants per archRemovable?Good fit for
Fixed full-arch bridge (All-on-4 style)A full set of teeth attached to implantsUsually 4 to 6No, your dentist removes itPatients who want teeth that stay in

Individual implants and bridgesSeparate implants and bridges across the archOften 6 or moreNoPatients with strong bone who want separate teeth

Our All-on-4 guide covers the fixed full-arch option in detail, and our comparison of dental implants vs dentures explains how implants differ from a traditional denture.

Who is a good candidate for full-mouth implants?

Most adults in good general health can be considered. Your dentist looks at a few things before recommending a plan:

  • Bone. Implants need bone to hold them. A 3D scan shows how much you have and where.
  • Gum health. Active gum disease is treated first, because healthy gums help implants last.
  • Medical history. Uncontrolled diabetes, smoking, and some medications can slow healing. Tell your dentist about every condition and medication.
  • Your goals. Some people want fixed teeth no matter what. Others are happy with a stable snap-in denture. Both are valid choices.

What if I have bone loss?

Bone shrinks after teeth are lost, which is one reason long-time denture wearers are often told they are not candidates. That is not always true. Full-arch designs can angle the back implants to use the strongest bone, and bone grafting can rebuild thin areas. Your consultation will show which approach fits your scan.

How much do full-mouth dental implants cost in Dallas?

Full-mouth treatment is priced case by case, because the number of implants, any extractions or bone grafting, and the type of teeth all change the total. At Bleu Dentistry, a single dental implant starts at $3,000 and can range to $5,000 or more, and full-arch plans are quoted individually at a free consultation. You get a written plan with prices before any treatment begins.

Being out of network matters less for implants than for routine care, because many dental plans pay little toward implants either way. Our team checks what your plan may cover, and flexible financing is available. See our dental financing page and our dental implant cost guide for what goes into the price.

What happens during treatment?

  1. Consultation. An exam, imaging, and a conversation about what you want. You leave with a written plan and price.
  2. Preparation. Any failing teeth are removed and infections are treated. Bone grafting is done where needed.
  3. Implant placement. The implants are placed in the jaw. Many full-arch patients receive a temporary set of teeth during this stage.
  4. Healing. Over a few months the bone bonds with the implants.
  5. Final teeth. Your permanent bridge or implant denture is made and attached, and your bite is adjusted.

Will it hurt, and can I be sedated?

The areas being treated are fully numbed, and most patients describe the recovery as soreness and swelling for several days. If you are nervous, there is no need to go elsewhere for IV sedation: it is all done at our office by an anesthesiologist. Nitrous oxide and oral sedation are also available. Our sedation dentistry page explains each option.

How do I care for full-mouth implants?

Fixed bridges are brushed in place and cleaned underneath with a water flosser or special floss. Snap-in dentures come out each night for cleaning. Either way, regular checkups let your dentist keep the implants and gums healthy for the long term. Our guide on how long dental implants last covers what affects their lifespan.

FAQ

Full-mouth dental implants replace all the teeth in the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or both, using implants placed in the jawbone as anchors. The new teeth can be a fixed bridge that stays in, like All-on-4, a removable denture that snaps onto implants, or a series of individual implants and bridges.
Full-mouth and full-arch treatment is quoted case by case because the number of implants, bone grafting, extractions, and the type of teeth all change the total. At Bleu Dentistry a single implant starts at $3,000 and can range to $5,000 or more; full-arch plans are priced at a free consultation with a written quote.
All-on-4 is one type of full-mouth implant treatment. It uses four implants per arch to hold a fixed set of teeth. Other options include snap-in implant dentures, which you remove to clean, and individual implants with bridges, which use more implants.
Often, yes. Some full-arch designs angle the back implants to use the bone you have, and bone grafting can rebuild areas that are too thin. A 3D scan at your consultation shows how much bone is available and which options fit your mouth.
Most full-mouth cases take a few months from start to finish. Teeth that need to come out are removed, implants are placed, and the bone is given time to bond with them. Many full-arch patients wear temporary teeth during healing, then receive their final teeth once the implants are stable.
