Which dental insurance plans does Bleu Dentistry accept?
Bleu Dentistry works with most major dental insurance plans, including:
- Delta Dental
- Cigna
- Aetna
- MetLife
- Guardian
- United Healthcare
Every employer buys a slightly different version of each plan, so the name on the card is only the start. When you book, share your insurance details and the front desk will confirm your coverage, deductible, and remaining benefits before you come in. If you have a plan that is not listed, ask anyway.
How do I know if my plan is a PPO or an HMO?
Plan type matters more than the insurance company name. Look at your card or log in to your member portal:
| PPO plan | HMO or DMO plan | |
|---|---|---|
| Which dentists | Any dentist, lower costs in-network | Only your assigned in-network dentist |
| Choosing an office | You can book where you like | You usually pick or are assigned an office first |
| Out-of-network care | Partly covered | Usually not covered |
| Referrals | Not needed for most care | Often needed for some treatments |
| Best first step | Call the office to verify benefits | Check which office your plan has assigned you |
If your card says DHMO or DMO, call the number on the back of the card before booking to see which offices are in your network. If it says PPO, or you are not sure, ask the office to check for you.
What does dental insurance usually cover?
Most dental plans sort care into three groups, and each is covered differently:
- Preventive care such as exams, cleanings, and X-rays is usually covered at the highest level, often with no deductible.
- Basic care such as fillings, simple extractions, and some root canals is usually covered in part after your deductible.
- Major care such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants is usually covered at the lowest level, and some plans have waiting periods before it applies.
Three terms decide what you pay. The deductible is what you pay before the plan starts paying for basic and major care. The annual maximum is the most the plan pays in a year. A waiting period is how long you must be enrolled before certain care is covered. Your plan summary lists all three.
Does dental insurance cover emergencies?
Most plans cover an emergency exam and X-rays, and many help with the treatment that follows. At Bleu Dentistry, emergency patients are seen the same day, and you get a written treatment plan with prices, showing what insurance is expected to cover, before any treatment starts. Read more on our emergency dentist page or in our guide to emergency dental costs.
How do I get the most out of my dental benefits?
- Use your preventive visits. Cleanings and exams cost little or nothing on most plans and catch problems while they are small.
- Watch the calendar. Many plans reset on January 1. Unused benefits usually do not roll over, so fall is a good time to finish treatment you have been putting off.
- Ask for a pre-estimate. For larger treatment, the office can send the plan to your insurer first so you know your share before you commit.
- Split big treatment across plan years when it is safe to do so, so two annual maximums help instead of one.
What if I don't have dental insurance?
You can still be seen. Bleu Dentistry welcomes patients with and without insurance. New patients can start with the $159 New Patient Special, which includes digital X-rays, an exam, a cleaning, laser treatment, and fluoride. Emergency patients start with a $99 exam that includes X-rays. In-house payment plans and third-party financing for qualifying patients are explained on our financing page, and our guide to dental care without insurance in Dallas covers more ways to manage costs.
