Why are most dental offices closed on Sunday?

Dental care takes a full team: a dentist, assistants, front-desk staff, and often an outside lab. Most practices schedule that team on weekdays, and many close for the whole weekend. That is why so many people search for a Sunday dentist and come up empty.

Bleu Dentistry was built around the hours people actually need. We are open until 7 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and all day Saturday until 8 PM. We are closed on Sunday so our team can rest and be ready for Monday, when weekend emergencies arrive.

What should I do if my tooth hurts on a Sunday?

  1. Check for ER warning signs first. Facial swelling that is spreading toward your eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a high fever with swelling, or bleeding that will not stop are reasons to go to the emergency room now.
  2. Control the pain. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever exactly as the label directs, hold a cold compress on your cheek, rinse with warm salt water, and keep your head raised when you lie down. Our guide to dental pain relief after hours covers what helps and what to avoid.
  3. Book the first opening of the week. Online booking is open around the clock, so you can reserve a Monday slot on Sunday night instead of waiting to call.
  4. Protect the tooth. Chew on the other side, avoid very hot or cold food, and save any broken pieces in a clean container.

Which weekend dental problems can wait until Monday?

Many weekend problems can be managed safely for a day. Some cannot. Use this as a general guide; it does not replace an exam.

Can I go to the ER or urgent care for a toothache on Sunday?

The emergency room is the right place for the warning signs above, because a dental infection that spreads into the face or neck can become serious. The ER can manage swelling, start treatment for infection, and help with pain. It usually cannot fill, repair, or remove the tooth, so you will still need a dentist afterward.

For a toothache without those warning signs, the ER visit is often long and the problem comes back once the medicine wears off. In most cases it is better to manage the pain at home and book the first dental opening. If you are unsure, it is always reasonable to get checked.

How do I get seen first thing Monday?

Book online on Sunday. The booking page shows the openings that are actually available, so you can pick a Monday time before the phones open. Bleu Dentistry is open Monday and Wednesday 10 AM to 7 PM, Friday 3 PM to 7 PM, and Saturday 10 AM to 8 PM. We are closed Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and you can also walk in during open hours.

Bring a photo ID, a list of the medicines you take, and any broken pieces of tooth or a crown that came off. If a pain reliever is helping, keep taking it as directed until your visit. Our new patients page lists everything to expect at a first visit.

What if my tooth starts hurting on Saturday?

Do not wait for Monday. Bleu Dentistry is open every Saturday from 10 AM to 8 PM, with walk-ins welcome from 10 AM. If pain starts on Saturday morning or afternoon, coming in that day can spare you a long Sunday. Our Saturday emergency dentist page and our guide to a dentist open on Saturday in Dallas have the details.

What does an emergency visit include and cost?

New emergency patients start with a $99 exam, and X-rays are included. Your dentist finds the cause of the pain, explains your options, and shows you the price of any treatment in writing before anything is done.

Many weekend problems are handled at that first visit: a filling or temporary repair for a broken tooth, treatment for an infection, or an extraction when a tooth cannot be saved. Simple and surgical extractions, including impacted wisdom teeth, are done right here in our office. See our emergency dentist page for everything we treat, and our tooth extraction page if a tooth needs to come out. Flexible payment plans are available through our dental financing options.

Do you see children for weekend dental emergencies?

Yes. Bleu Dentistry sees children for dental emergencies. If your child chips or knocks out a tooth at a weekend game, or wakes up with a painful, swollen tooth, follow the same steps: ER for the warning signs, comfort care at home, and the first opening of the week. For a child's pain reliever, ask a pharmacist about the right medicine and amount for their age and weight.
